Webber International University, a selective Business university located an hour from of Orlando FL, and a Division II member of the NAIA and The Sun Conference, seeks a graduate assistant to work in conjunction with the head men’s basketball coach in all aspects related to the operation of the men’s basketball program.
The graduate assistant must successfully enroll as a full-time graduate student in a sports management focus program.
Responsibilities include working with the head coach with day to day operations including, but not limited to: recruiting, monitoring the student athlete’s success and progress, organizing practice and game strategies, and film breakdown. The graduate assistant will also assist with alumnae/i relations, fundraising, community service, and team building activities; manage equipment; conduct academic monitoring; and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree at the time of appointment, minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA, and a state-issued license. The successful candidate must also possess excellent written and oral communication skills in order to interact with a diverse constituency including student-athletes, coaches, athletic trainers, and athletic administration. Previous experience playing or coaching at the college level is required. Applicants must be willing to work with various departments on campus including, but not limited to: admissions, facilities, development, academic advising, and student affairs.
