Cheyney University of Pennsylvania seeks applicants for a Head Men’s Basketball Coach. The position is a full-time twelve-month appointment.

Cheyney University is a NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, developing a team cohesiveness that reflects the pride of Cheyney University and recruiting and developing appropriate student-athletes with the academic background and athletic talent needed to be competitive in a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II program within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Additional responsibilities include conducting meetings with assistant coaches and making practice and recruiting area assignments; coordinating with the athletic administration for the hiring of assistant coaches; expenditures and monitoring of the budget; scheduling of opponents; awarding athletic scholarships; eligibility; facility requests for meets, practices, major repairs and equipment purchases; game administration; coordinating team travel advances including transportation, lodging and meals; and fund-raising activities. Candidates are expected to have a history of coaching winning teams.

The minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) and a minimum of 3 years of Division 1 or 11 as an Assistant Coach. Candidates must demonstrate successful recruiting strategies, have fundraising and/or community service experience, and demonstrate strong administrative skills including, but not limited to, basic computer usage and record keeping/recording.
