| Description: | Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach for Men’s Basketball
will administer and direct all aspects of the City College of New York Men’s
Basketball program in accordance with college, NCAA and CUNYAC by-
laws and regulations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the
coaching and development of a highly competitive Division III program
consistent with the goals and philosophies of intercollegiate athletics at
CCNY.
The head coach will be responsible for the recruitment and retention of
quality student-athletes with high academic and physical standards; monitor
the academic progress of student-athletes to facilitate pursuit of a degree;
supervise all game, scrimmage and practice activities, as well as team
travel; scout opponent teams, and designing game plans and strategies;
apply disciplinary actions fairly and in accordance with team rules and
NCAA, CCNY and CUNYAC regulations; soliciting and encouraging
contributions to, and support for, the intercollegiate program, and foster
good relations with fans, donors and the local community. The head coach
is a key member of the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics at CCNY and thus
is expected to participate in department-wide initiatives, fundraisers, special
events and summer camps and clinics.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. The candidate must demonstrate two or more
years of successful basket
ball coaching and recruiting experience on the
collegiate level; excellent leadership skills, dynamic interpersonal
communication skills; strong mentoring ability and, be able to support the
mission of the College. The head coach is accountable for modeling a
professional demeanor as appropriate to higher education and CCNY
Athletics.
