The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Adjust coaching techniques, based on the strengths and weaknesses of athletes
• Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to their sport
• Instruct individuals or groups on sports rules, game strategies, and performance
• Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations
• Coordinate travel arrangements and travel with the team during away contests
• Manage all aspects of the team, including strength and conditioning, practicing, competition and scheduling
• Evaluate and recruit qualified student athletes
• Manage the basketball department budget
• Be responsible for basketball student-athlete retention
• Assist the administration with alumni relation and fundraising
• Commit to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, the SWAC and the NCAA with the utmost integrity
• Work cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department, always present the University positively when interacting with community, alumni, high school and AAU coaches, media and general public
• Maintain a team APR of 930 or above
