Nova Southeastern University, an NCAA Division II program and a provisional member of the Sunshine State Conference, is seeking applicants for the position of head coach, men’s basketball. Responsibilities include organizing and administering all phases of the men’s basketball program, including practice and game coaching, recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes, scheduling, fund-raising, budget management, team travel, maintaining academic integrity and exhibiting a strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Operates program within NCAA and SSC policies, procedures and rules.

2. Provides effective supervision of student-athletes in areas of practice, competition, Academic Services and student-athlete campus experience.

3. Oversees and manages all aspects of the Men’s Basketball coaching and support staff; responsible for all coaching techniques, strategies, appropriate behavior and safety of team members; hires Assistant Coaches with concurrence of the Director of Athletics.

4. Manages the fiscal resources for the Men’s Basketball program; provides reports and documentation as necessary to administration.

5. Coordinates team travel, planning and logistics for home and away competition; and communicates travel needs.

6. Supports NSU Core Values by participating and/or attending various on campus events; participates in fundraising and related special events in order to raise scholarship money and funds for the Athletics program. Support Shark Club by soliciting membership and attending events.

7. Communicates practice schedule to NSU Facilities and game operation staff and maintains the quality of facility during use.

8. Provides leadership to student-athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance, promotes good sportsmanship, academic excellence and NSU Cores values.

9. Works cooperatively with faculty, staff, student and constituent groups outside the University to support the continued success and development of the Men’s Basketball program.

10. Works with Athletic Communications, Marketing and Promotions to engage community and campus to support games’ attendance.

11. Is committed to the values, standards and expectations of NCAA Division II athletics and NSU.

12. Develops a comprehensive recruiting plan; identifies the best student-athletes for the Men’s Basketball programs.

13. Reviews and adheres to department policies and procedures manual and strive for development of the program.

14. Assists the Director of Athletics with camps and clinics as outlined in action plan.

15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
Minimum two (2) years coaching experience at high school, college or professional level.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree.

2. Three (3) to five (5) years coaching experience at high school, college or professional level.
