Description:

Sauk Valley Community College seeks innovative individual for a part-time professional-technical opening as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

The Men’s Head Basketball Coach reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for the coordination and general supervision of a recognized community college sport within the athletic program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Perform normal functions associated with a varsity intercollegiate program.

2. Recruit students for designated sport.

3. Work with the Dean of Student Services in determining scholarship opportunities for potential athletes.

4. Conduct regular practice sessions in said sport.

5. Be knowledgeable of and adhere to the rules and regulations of the NJCAA regarding athletics.

6. Be knowledgeable of the rules and regulations governing fair play and sportsmanship for all athletic sports.

7. Assist the Athletic Director in determining the event schedule for the designated sport.

8. Regulate the budget for the designated sport. This includes all revenues and expenditures incurred during the sport season.

9. Work with the Business Office in acquiring necessary petty cash funds for officials, support staff, and food for players as needed.

10. Schedule vans or other necessary transportation and lodging, if applicable, to and from events.

11. Report required statistics and results to NJCAA website.

12. Report results to Athletic office and media in a timely manner.

13. Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
General sport knowledge, experience in the sport, and previous coaching experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

This is a contract which is renewed annually.
