Description:

The Head Men’s Basketball Coach meets the goals of guiding and leading an elite-level basketball program with effective management; as well as to promote academic achievement and character on the student athlete, fans, and within the University community.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

— Formulate an effective philosophy to promote the educational welfare and sportsmanship of the student-athlete in alignment with the University’s mission.
— Monitor academic progress and the retention of students affiliated with the men’s basketball program, implementing action plans in collaboration with the Student Academic Success office.
— Assume responsibility for sportsmanship, conduct, and academic progress of all students and staff affiliated with the men’s basketball program.
— Direct assigned Assistant Coaches in the overall planning and execution of the intercollegiate men’s basketball program.
— Recruit prospective student-athletes that will excel within the University framework and ensure timely submission of their academic records for admission.
— Monitor and maintain the conduct of student-athletes to support the image and reputation of the University.
— Plan coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NAIA and the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) regulations.
Develop and implement game strategy.
— Manage all operational, fiscal, and administrative activities for the men’s basketball program.
— Promote the athletic program and specific sport through attending community events, public speaking, fundraising, revenue generation, and marketing.
— Comply with NAIA, GCAC, and Xavier University of Louisiana rules, regulations, and policies.
— Special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Recreation. 

Minimum Qualifications:
— A creative self-starter with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) with four years of related experience.
— Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
— Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and Banner financial system.
— A team player that works well with others
