Description:
Queens College is seeking external candidates for the position of Head Men’s Basketball Coach (with additional responsibilities in Development). This position (with benefits) reports to the Assistant Vice President/Director of Athletics.The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects of the men’s basketball program which includes strengthening the athletics brand within the College, East Coast Conference, and NCAA. Candidate must embrace the Division II philosophy, and have entrepreneur and cultivation skills that would contribute to the financial success of the department and institution

The Queens College Department of Athletics offers varsity, intramural and recreational athletics opportunities to members of its campus community. The college sponsors 19 varsity NCAA Division II sports, with the Knights competing in the East Coast Conference. Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred); demonstrate a minimum of four years serving as a collegiate head or assistant coach at an NCAA, D1 or D2 institution OR six years as a head coach in NCAA D3 or junior college. Applicants will be evaluated on (and should explicitly demonstrate on the resume):

  • A history of successful win-loss records and/or successful transformation of a program
  • Success in hiring and retaining part time coaches
  • Successful recruitment and retention of high academic achieving students
  • Use of technology for compliance, academics and/or finance
  • Coordination or participation in community service, speaking engagements and college engagement activities
  • Development of monitoring of budget
  • Successful cultivation that lead to donations
  • Creation or coordination of camps and clinics
  • Fundraising (other than guarantee games)
  • Successful northeast region recruiting and/or coaching is a plus

The successful candidate must possess a thorough knowledge of NCAA rules, high ethical standards, an unwavering commitment to positively mentor young men, and excellent organizational and administrative skills.
