Job Description:
The Head Coach for Men’s Basketball for the Athletics Department will be responsible for all aspects of directing the Men’s Basketball Program, including creating an overall successful, positive environment for the student-athletes. The Head Coach for Men’s Basketball will also: determine the annual goals for the men’s basketball program; develop and implement current recruiting strategies for the program which will be successful in the recruiting of qualified student-athletes; develop and maintain a positive working relationship with the athletics department staff in order to facilitate the execution of their responsibilities and duties in support of the men’s basketball team; communicate with the athletics department staff in preparing the travel accommodations for the team; assist in assessing the basketball program needs, including athletic supplies, equipment, facilities, etc. while operating within the financial boundaries of the department; complete all administrative responsibilities in a timely manner; provide leadership in the team’s fundraising activities and community service initiatives; select, appoint, direct, supervise and evaluate the assistant coaches; prepare practice plans to conduct daily practice sessions using current and innovative techniques and strategies which will improve the ability and skills of the student-athletes as an individual and as a team; review past game performances, preparing for the upcoming games through advance scouting and film; prepare competition strategies for individual games; understand and adhere to the policies, procedures, bylaws, regulations and rules of the university, National Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) and the Little East Conference; and perform other duties as assigned.
