Description:

Under general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach is responsible for the management of the Men’s Basketball program, which is an NCAA Division I program in the Big West Conference. The incumbent hires and supervises assistant coaches; oversees practice and game day coaching; identifies, evaluates, and recruits academically qualified student-athletes and monitors their academic progress.

  • Maintains a team Academic Progress Rate at or above the NCAA minimum requirements; develops a competitive schedule; and adheres to university and departmental practices relating to expenditures.
  • Cultivates and maintains effective relations with students, parents, faculty, staff, media, and friends of the university; and plays a leadership role in marketing, fundraising and revenue generation for the program, department, and University.
  • As a leader, demonstrates a commitment to student success that is mission aligned with the university’s vision, values and priorities. Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team. Encourages a courageous and resilient solution-oriented environment by participating in new opportunities to further the mission of the university. Participates in developing initiatives that further support the campus mission with a service-oriented and catalytic mind set. Strengthens employees by being communicative and a talent builder that develops team attributes, furthering departmental goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated coaching and recruiting experience; and/or professional league playing experience.
  • Fundraising experience is desirable.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $275,000 – $350,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
