Position Summary: Oversee all aspects of the College’s intercollegiate men’s basketball program and the safe and efficient operation of the Fitness Center. Head Coach duties comprise approximately 51% of the total assigned tasks while the Fitness Center constitutes the remaining 49%. As the Head Coach, responsibilities include all operations of EWC’s NJCAA Region IX program: staff and player selection, supervision, assessment, event scheduling, logistics coordination/planning, and academic performance monitoring. For the Fitness Center, the Director will coordinate and schedule operating hours, select and train part-time and Work Study personnel, ensure special event advertising, and maintain a manual for proper and safe equipment use. Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills are essential. Off-season duty hours are typically Monday through Friday, 8 am – 5 pm. During basketball season, work hours vary with the practice and game schedules. The position requires regular night, overnight, and weekend travel within Region IX. Travel outside Region IX may be required for recruiting.

Essential Duties: -Responsible for complete operation of EWC’s NJCAA Region IX men’s basketball program -Select staff and players, supervise both, schedule practices and games, recruit players, and monitor student-athlete academics -Maintain knowledge of and adhere to NJCAA and Region IX rules -Prepare and execute fiscal year operating budgets and provide financial overviews annually or as requested -Coordinate and create travel plans with supervisor input which utilizes prudent budgetary practices -Help develop and plan fund-raising activities; create and maintain effective relationships with program stake-holders/supporters -Schedule and coordinate Fitness Center operations and ensure they’re integrated/harmonized with the College calendar -Interview, hire, train, schedule, direct, supervise, and assess work performance of Fitness Center staff -Develop and maintain a procedures manual for proper and safe equipment and facility use -Maintain confidentiality of patrons’ personal information -Contribute to a safe and educational work environment; be prepared to take immediate action for a health or safety emergency -Instruct Phys Ed courses and perform instructional duties (e.g. prepare syllabi, provide orientations, assign work, issue grades) -Schedule, coordinate, and supervise the maintenance, repair, and replacement of Fitness Center equipment
