Friends University is seeking to fill the Head Coach Men’s Basketball position in Wichita Kansas. This position will oversee all areas of the Friends University intercollegiate men’s basketball program. This includes development, execution and assessment of plans for: budget management, personnel management, recruitment, retention, and day-to-day operations of the program.  Operations include communication regarding facility needs, planning and facilitating practices and game day strategies, supervision and development of coaching staff, and collaboration with Admissions, Financial Aid, FAR, and Associate AD for Compliance and Operations. Educate student athletes on theory of the game and actual performance expectations.  Support student athletes in academic success, spiritual growth and professional planning. To support the Christian mission and values of Friends University and the NAIA champions of Character.

Bachelor’s degree required and Master’s degree preferred.

3-5 years of experience as a college assistant coach and/or head coach preferred. High school head coaching experience will be considered.

To be knowledgeable of coaching theory, the psychology of coaching and to be able to put this knowledge into everyday practice. To be knowledgeable of all NAIA and athletic conference eligibility processes and standards and to ensure compliance of those standards. Requires strong financial management, time management and personnel management skills. Individual must possess acute understanding of sport preparation and facilitation. Experience and skill in fundraising and summer camp development will be considered.

The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity. The individual must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 35 pounds.
