Description: | Serve as Head Men’s Basketball coach for the basketball program including but not limited to; coaching, scouting, scheduling, recruiting, study hall monitoring, mentoring, travel coordination, teaching sportsmanship, life skills, discipline enforcement, and program administration. Essential Functions 50% – Organizing and administering the basketball program including coaching, recruiting, scheduling and contributing to the overall development of the basketball program 30% – Coaching of basketball techniques and skill development. Working with the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator on the monitoring of the strength and conditioning program. Monitoring academic progress, retention and completion efforts. Working with the athletic student service specialist on study hall and tutoring sessions. Providing leadership in educational goals, academic completion and sportsmanship 10% – Monitoring all compliance related issues in regards to MCCCD, NJCAA, ACCAC, and DAC 10% – Working with administration, general college community, faculty members, local businesses, alumni and media outlets in regards to the basketball program Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in physical education, sports management, sports coaching or related field and four full-time equivalent years of experience as an athletic coach, preferably at the college level, which includes recruiting experience and two years of senior level or lead experience Or Associates Degree from a regionally accredited institution in physical education, sports management, sports coaching or related field and six full-time equivalent years of experience as an athletic coach, preferably at the college level, which includes recruiting experience and two years of senior level or lead experience Or High School Diploma/GED and eight full-time equivalent years of experience as an athletic coach, preferably at the college level, which includes recruiting experience and two years of senior level or lead experience Desired Qualifications 1) Five or more years coaching basketball as a head coach or assistant coach in an educational setting. 2) Experience in organizing retention and completion efforts of students 3) Experience and knowledge of the student-athlete eligibility process 4) College credits from an accredited institution 5) Participated and/or organized fundraising activities |
