The Men’s Head Basketball Coach reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is responsible for the organization and administration of all phases of the MSU Men’s Basketball Program.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Administering coaching strategies, skill analysis and development.
- Planning, organizing, and conducting all practices.
- Developing training schedules and a comprehensive conditioning program.
- Developing a comprehensive recruiting program for both in-state and out-of-state student athletes.
- Scouting and analyzing opponents and designing game plans.
- Hiring, supervising, and evaluating the coaching staff and support personnel.
- Managing scheduling and arrangements for team travel, including transportation, accommodations, and meals.
- Managing the Basketball and 6th Man Club budgets and scholarship allotments.
- Implementing and overseeing methods to ensure academic integrity, retention, and graduation of student-athletes.
- Ensuring student-athlete well-being (with respect to health and safety issues).
- Participating in public relations and fundraising events, public speaking and public appearances, and radio, television, and press interviews.
- Adhering strictly to MSU, Big Sky Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.
- All other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics in pursuit of the goal of developing a successful Basketball program.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 7 years of collegiate coaching experience.
- Record of successful men’s basketball coaching and recruiting at a competitive intercollegiate level, including demonstrated ability in such areas as: scouting, in-game coaching strategies, skills analysis, player and leadership development.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete success including monitoring academic programs, nutrition, strength and conditioning program and student-athlete conduct.
- Experience in budget management.
- Thorough knowledge and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations as well as institutional policies.
- Evidence of ability to interact positively with student-athletes, parents, colleagues, alumni, community members and other constituents, with a strong understanding of the importance of interaction with all levels of support groups and fund raising efforts.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Master’s Degree
- 10 years of collegiate coaching experience.
- Demonstrated experience in supervising support staff.
- Strong background with media interaction.
- Demonstrated strong organization skills.
- Experience conducting camps and clinics.
