Description:

Newbury College is searching for a full-time, Head Coach of Men’s Basketball directly responsible for the supervision of assistant coaches, recruitment and retention of student athletes, and team management. This position will also have responsibility for general athletic department administration including Work Study and Game Management Supervisor along with other duties assigned by the Director of Athletics.

Requisite Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a professional manner with all departments of the College, Trustees, and external constituents. Experienced with office management procedures; be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications. Previous experience in a college or university environment required.

Men’s Basketball Coach
• Year-long recruiting of high school student-athletes by attending high school games and AAU tournaments including summer camps. Also sending communications and making weekly contacts with prospective student-athletes. • Organizing prospective student-athlete day and overnight visits and administering tours for all prospective student-athletes. • Year long program management monitoring academic progress of my athletes as well as working with off-season conditioning programs • Fundraising for all additional necessary equipment • Practice and game preparation • Scouting opponents by attending games, viewing video or obtaining other scouting reports

Work Study and Game Management Supervisor
• Organize workers for every home event • Bring workers back and forth from events • Hire and train all work-study students • Assign work-study students with jobs • Assure that all work-study students are responsible for the positions and job performance

Applicant Information:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in a related field from a regionally accredited institution. Position requires travel during the week and weekends.
