Head Men’s Basketball Coach – Piedmont International University
School: | Piedmont International University |

Position: | Head Coach |
Position Type: | Full-time |
Organization: | : |
Level: | null |
Conference: | NCCAA |
Description: | This position requires a passionate professional to recruit and build an intercollegiate Men’s Basketball program in the NCCAA. Through excellent recruitment, strong supervision of the players and assistant coaches, and a well-communicated system of discipline, the Men’s Basketball Program can compete nationally and retain and graduate numbers well above the university goals. The Coach is expected to lead by example and model the mission and biblical ethos represented by a 75-year-old Christ-Centered University. The expectations are that through recruiting and institutional fit this program will represent the very best PIU has to offer in the way of athletics and programming. As a full-time staff member serving in the capacity as Head Coach, the incumbent also becomes part of the PIU campus family. This means that the coach is comfortable in an evangelical environment and committed to the Statement of Faith adopted by the university. This role reports to the Director of Athletics and the goal is to run a high-quality program, recruit and retain and exemplary student/athletes, maintain high visibility on campus and serve as a point of pride for the university. The Head Coach will also communicate directly with the Associate Director for Athletics and the Athletic Trainer almost daily. The operations of the program will go through the approval of the Associate Director for budgeting and travel. The Head Coach builds the schedule, recruits, and trains the team, equips and maintains the squad, supervises the assistant coach, respects and adheres to the NCCAA rules and guidelines and joins a winning small Christian College team. The department continues to grow and emerge as a highly competitive program in the NCCAA. Basketball enjoys a rich tradition and recent trips to the NCCAA National Tournaments. The team ideally carries between 15-20 members and can play a JV schedule if the numbers are there and the coaches see that as beneficial. Most important is the Coach’s fit with the current team assembled in athletics and at the university. This requires a Team Player that understands the need to share gym time and space with several other teams needing time on the floor. With a successful system in place, we have attracted several outstanding coaches that have won regional and national honors. We have developed a student success system that has served to retain over 80% of all campus students with 165 student-athletes benefiting from our academic advising and tutoring. We have recently invested over $250,000 in renovations of the Gym with more planned. We had added the new sports of Cross-Country, Track and Men’s Volleyball with Tennis and Esports under consideration. Our Cafeteria is under 1.3 million dollars worth of renovations and the rest of the campus has received over two million in upgrades. The university has added several new degree programs as enrollment grew from 612 in the Fall of 2017 to 804 in the Fall of 2019. A major emphasis is placed on the international markets and expanding Business School opportunities. We think this an exciting opportunity for the right person as we fill our gym to capacity for most home games and have a large, eager crowd attached to the team. More information about the university and athletic department can be found on the websites. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, 5-10 years of head coaching experience at the high school or assisting at the college level. Preferred Qualifications: 5-10 Years of College Coaching experience, preferably at a similar institution, Masters Degree in Sports Administration or related field, evidence of successful recruiting and developing student-athletes in the sport of basketball at the college level. Review of materials will begin immediately and continue until a person is selected for the position. Our goal is to have a selection made by June 1. For best consideration materials need to be submitted, electronically, by May 10th. This is a Full-Time position with standard PIU staff benefits. Salary Range will be $45,000-55,000 per year depending on experience and education. |
