Position: Missoula, MT Manager of Basketball Ops and Skills Trainer.
Description:

For this position we are looking for someone who is highly positive and enthusiastic at the gym and about this job. This person must be able to create individualized, and productive workouts for a variety of skill levels of players. The workouts designed should be based on the specific needs of each individual group and the areas in which they need improvement. This person must be able to teach all aspects of the game including ball handling, passing, shooting, and court awareness, with a special emphasis on good court/life skills: teamwork, leadership, attitude and effort.  We ask that this person be attentive to each individual athletes needs in order to help each athlete get the most out of his or her workout. All groups will be scheduled based on comparable age and skill level. Our goal will be for this person to work with the most advanced athletes of all age groups.

We are looking for good role models, who are personable, and interested in building relationships with families who currently train in our gym. Mentorship to athletes of all ages searching to reach their potential physically and mentally in the game of basketball as well as develop and maximize skills in life.  We will want this person to involve themself in the community by attending local high school and grade school games for the purpose of recruiting potential future athletes and supporting the ones that train at the gym.

This position is both “on court” training and seeking out other athletes in the community to join our PSS family as well as help with marketing Pfahler Sport Specific.  This person will brainstorm ideas on how to help the business grow. This person will work on projects or events at the gym (camps, clinics, leagues, open gym, etc.).

Lastly, we are looking for this person to oversee and mentor, manage and train new part-time trainers that PSS may hire to work at the gym. This may include, helping them understand the qualities and characteristics we are looking for in a trainer and in our athletes. This person will provide ideas for part-time trainers to help them plan workouts to run groups potentially on their own as well.

 

Schedule

The schedule for this position changes from season to season. The summer season will be primarily Monday through Thursday/Friday (daytime hours) and during the school year Sunday through Thursday (before and after school). Please note that certain holidays could change our business days/weeks.  Hours during the school year will work around athlete’s school hours, before and after school. Schedules will work around availability of the athletes.

 

Other duties that are required for this position include:

  • Checking teams in for gym and cage rentals
  • Checking players in (open gym, scrimmages, tournaments, practice)
  • Monitoring gym attendees (players on court and in cages, parents and siblings in observation deck)
  • Maintaining gym cleanliness
  • Weekly cleaning gym floor with wet and dry mopping
  • Monthly vacuuming of walking matt
  • Weekly garbage take out
  • Basketball court set up and take down (setting up and taking down mini hoops, set up for tournaments or scrimmages)
  • Assisting with gym decorations (holidays, advertisements, athlete posters)

 

Wages

Part-time/full-time on hourly wage all with potential for salary depending on how probationary period goes. This position has potential for growth and incentives based on performance during probationary period.

 

Qualifications

Candidate must be a good role model and be conscientious of social media, as we value our good reputation in the community. Candidate must be highly skilled in basketball with a strong basketball background, preferably at the college/professional level.
