Description:

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for setting up all travel arrangements.
  2. Responsible for working with and staying within a zero based budget.
  3. Responsible for setting up spreadsheets for equipment purchase, film exchange, scheduling, etc.
  4. Responsible for budget and reconciling accounts after all recruiting and athletic related trips.
  5. Serve as academic liaison between the student-athletes and faculty and staff.
  6. Responsible for setting up Individual Education Plans for each student-athlete.
  7. Responsible for providing administrative assistance to the Head Coach.
  8. Participates in public relations activities and fund raising.
  9. Ensures the highest professional standards and behavior with regard to adherence to NAIA rules and regulations.
  10. Monitor academic progress and eligibility status for student-athletes.
  11. Work as a liaison with the Campus Recreation Department on gym set-up and practice times.
  12. Coordinates special needs for home contest with visiting teams and Campus Recreation Department.
  13. Assists the Athletic Director and Trainer in preparing eligibility and insurance documents on all student-athletes.
  14. Athletic liaison with the Assistant to the Athletic Director on all required travel documentation and transportation requests.
  15. Subscribes and adheres to the NAIA Coaches Code of Conduct.
  16. Subscribes and promotes the NAIA Champions of Character student development.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Assists the Head Basketball Coach in all areas of the basketball program.
  2. Responsible for setting up all pre-season strength and conditioning programs and works closely with the development of the student-athletes in this area.
  3. Responsible for setting up recruiting spreadsheets, organize mail-outs and aid the Head Coach in the recruitment of quality student-athletes that fit the mission of Our Lady of the Lake University.
  4. Participate in Student Life Division programs and activities.
  5. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Thorough knowledge of the fundamentals, technical aspects, and strategy for assigned sport.
  2. Ability to recruit and retain qualified athletes and to facilitate timely progress toward graduation.
  3. Knowledge and understanding of all rules and regulations pertaining to the NAIA division I level.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to operate the basketball program within the budget parameters.
  6. Understanding of and commitment to the catholic faith and its traditions.
  7. Ability to work with multiple other departments on campus.
  8. Excellent administrative, organizational, and communication skills.

Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in management or education related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. One year of coaching experience or office management experience required, college coaching experience in the assigned sport preferred.
  3. Office management and clerical experience required.
