The University of Connecticut is accepting applications and nominations for the full-time position of Men’s Basketball General Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting the Head Men’s Basketball Coach in a variety of duties including coordinating practice arrangements; providing support to coaches and student-athletes for practice and game preparation, including attending meetings related to coaching activities which include game analysis and review of game film; assisting, as needed, with data collection including the tracking of team performance statistics during competitions and practice sessions; assist and advise on the recruitment and evaluation of prospective student-athletes; leading all efforts to book the team’s non-conference schedule annually; maintaining strong collaboration and communication with Big East conference partners related to any team-specific matters; serving as liaison to all Division offices/departments including, but not limited to, NCAA Compliance, NIL Strategy and operations; talent evaluation – inclusive of maintaining a potential portal and high school athlete database throughout the year, integrated advanced scouting methods, analytics, and player development strategies; continual development with agencies/agents; leading the development and execution of an NIL strategy engaging with student athletes and their representatives, leading initiatives related to donor engagement with the men’s basketball program; coordinating on campus recruiting visits; monitoring the basketball budget; maintaining daily communications with the UConn athletics director and chief operating officer related to all daily operations of the men’s basketball program, related to all matters  and performing other program duties as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience working on projects related to basketball operations or player personnel for a Division I program or other comparable levels.
  • A demonstrated working knowledge of the correct application of NCAA regulations.
  • Strong commitment to the academic goals of the University.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and public relations skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree.
  • Multiple years of experience working at the Division I or professional level (basketball).
  • Possesses coaching and student-athlete development philosophies consistent with that of the men’s basketball program and Division of Athletics.
