The Special Assistant to the Head Coach serves as the point person for the Head Men’s Basketball Coach.  The incumbent is exposed daily to information of a highly confidential nature and must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism.

40% Assists Head Coach in day-to-day projects. Represent the head coach in meetings with Administration, Boosters, Academics, Marketing, etc.

40% Oversee the assessment for the quality of life of student athletes and in conjunction with head coach, assistant coaches and support staff, assist the Academic Advisor with monitoring the academic accountability of current student athletes; Encourage positive attitude toward academic responsibilities and personal conduct.

10% In conjunction with head coach and assistant coaching staff, work as the liaison with the Champs Life Skills program to develop and coordinate a series of programs/events which enhance personal and career development of student athlete leadership skills and monitor required attendance at events; Assist student athletes with their career and professional development.

10% Coordinate all professional development and life lesson speakers and on-campus visits and all travel for consultants.  Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with two years experience in a collegiate basketball program as a student-athlete, coach or administrator; knowledge of NCAA and SEC rules and regulations; strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Special or Physical Qualifications:

Ability to work extended days and weekends.  Travel may be required.
