Prince of Peace Christian School is now welcoming applications for the open position of Varsity Men’s Basketball Head Coach. POPCS is a private Christian school in Carrollton, TX (Northern DFW suburb) who competes in athletics at the 4a level in TAPPS – the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools.

While accomplished coaches come from many different backgrounds, our head coaching hire should have all of the following:

  • An established relationship with Christ, and the ability to share that relationship with student-athletes at POPCS
  • A demonstratable knowledge of the game of basketball – including offensive & defensive schemes, game planning, personnel & minute management, etc.
  • Knowledge of the HUDL platform, and the ability to effectively manage that platform for the team. This will include breaking down opponent’s film to watch with the team, as well as utilizing the platform to share film with others.
  • 5+ years of previous coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, or professional level is required. Previous Head Coaching experience at these levels is desired but not necessary depending on the candidate.
  • A strong desire to be present in supporting the student athletes both on and off the court. This will include being present in the weight room (under the direction of our Athletic Director & Strength Coach, Coach Pena), frequently meeting with the athletic administration to discuss players’ academics, communicating with our head athletic trainer in a positive manner regarding player injuries and rehabilitation, etc.
  • The ability to build and foster relationships. The successful candidate will sincerely care for the players and families at POPCS and wants to partner with those families throughout their basketball experience at POPCS.
  • Be a team player who works with other Varsity Program Leaders at the school to promote multi-sport athletes.
  • A knowledge of the collegiate basketball recruiting process, and the ability to assist players and families in navigating that process correctly.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • A current CPR/First Aid certification, or the willingness to complete said training upon employment
  • A willingness to complete all TAPPS-required paperwork and documentation as instructed by the athletic department
  • A valid Texas driver’s license, and the willingness to transport student athletes to and from games using school vans when or if our primary bus transportation is unavailable.
