Description:

Manhattan College, an NCAA Division I institution and member of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), is seeking applications for the Volunteer Special Assistant Coach.

The successful candidate will assist the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with all aspects of the Manhattan basketball program. The successful candidate will work to develop a positive atmosphere for the program both internally and externally to the athletic department and College. Must be committed to assist in managing the program within the guidelines of the NCAA, MAAC and Manhattan College Department of Intercollegiate Athletic policies and procedures and will be expected to work cooperatively with all constituencies and campus units

OVERVIEW:

Must demonstrate the ability to work well with other campus constituents and with student-athletes. Demonstrate the ability to market and promote Manhattan College basketball program. Must exhibit leadership and professional behavior in dealing with student athletes and staff. Must be a team player and have the ability to support and assist other employees. Develop a positive atmosphere for the program both internally and externally within the athletic department and College.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to working with coaches and student-athletes
  • Development of individual workouts
  • Ability to assist the head coach in various duties
  • Assist in developing a championship program while maintaining the highest ethical standards
  • Ability to communicate in a positive manner with student athletes, staff, parents, and alumni

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and collegiate playing experience
  • Strong organizational and planning abilities with excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A working knowledge of computer programs and systems
  • General knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, NCAA policies and compliance issues
