University of North Dakota Director of Athletics Brian Faison announced Friday that head men’s basketball coach Brian Jones has signed a contract extension that will take him through the 2016-17 season.

Jones led UND to a 12-8 record in the Big Sky Conference last season, which were the most wins ever by a league newcomer and his squad’s third-place finish in the 11-team league was also the best ever by a first-year member. With a 16-16 regular season record, the team also earned its third straight appearance in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament.
