Jordan Altman accepts offer to become Men’s Basketball Head Coach at Cloud County CC

On Thursday, Jordan Altman accepted the position of Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Cloud County Community College, pending approval by the Cloud County Community College Board of Trustees. If approved, Altman would become the fifth head coach in the program’s 51-year history.

Altman comes to Concordia after spending two seasons as an assistant at Garden City Community College. He will replace Chad Eshbaugh on the T-Birds bench after Eshbaugh resigned on May 1 to become an assistant at Jacksonville University.

“We’re very excited about Jordan joining our staff and becoming the fifth head coach in 50 years here at Cloud,” said Cloud County Community College Athletic Director, Matt Bechard. “That says a lot about our community and college. We’re excited to have him come on board and we feel like he brings a lot to the program.”

Altman, the son of current University of Oregon men’s basketball coach Dana Altman, is an Omaha, Nebraska native. He graduated from Millard West High School before moving on to Creighton University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications.

While at Garden City, Altman served alongside Brady Trenkle and helped the Broncbusters to records of 18-14 overall in 2015-16, and 16-15 overall this past winter in a deep Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC).

He was head coach at Grays Harbor (Wash.) College for three seasons (2012-2015) prior to his stint in Garden City. Altman compiled an overall record of 24-54 while trying to turn around a “Chokers” program that had previously gone 4-88 overall during 2008-2012.

Altman’s first experience at the junior college level came in 2011-12 as an assistant at Lane College.

He has also served as a graduate assistant at Wayne State College (2007-08) and Indiana State University (2009-10), as well as the video coordinator at the University of Oregon (2010-11).

The 33-year-old will now prepare to take over a T-Birds program that finished 20-11 overall and fourth in the KJCCC standings last season.
