I can confirm two coaching changes at the JUCO level that have happened this week:

NJCAA D1 Lamar CC (CO)

Justin Cellars stepped down as the head coach late last week. No announcement from the school, but Cellars posted a resignation statement on X.

Lamar has moved quickly here, and I can confirm that they will name Garden City CC (KS) assistant Jaxon Autry as their new head coach. Autry was in his second stint in the GCCC bench (was also there from 2008-10), and has worked as a teacher and coach in Colorado and Kansas for the past 22 years.

An official announcement is expected shortly.

NJCAA D2 SUNY Sullivan (NY)

I can confirm that head coach Simon Clement has been elevated to Interim Director of Athletics, and has had to step away from his basketball position. Clement took over as Sullivan’s head coach last fall after spending five seasons as an assistant at the school. He has also served as the DBO at Albany, and as an assistant at New Hampton Prep (NH).

It sounds like the basketball job will be posted shortly – most likely as a part-time interim job. I’ll add the posting to our jobs section once it’s made official.
