JUCO DIRT: Des Moines Area CC set to open as Putz takes D1 job

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I teased this one late last week on Twitter…I can now confirm that Des Moines Area CC head coach Brett Putz has departed and will become the Special Assistant to the Head Coach at Indiana State.

Putz had been the head coach at DMACC for the past two years, where he had quite an impressive run. In his first season at the helm, his team went 21-5 and captured the NJCAA D2 National Championship. This past season, his squad went 28-8, and advanced to the NJCAA D2 Final Four. He leaves Des Moines with a 49-13 overall mark.

Prior to his time at DMACC, Putz spent two seasons as an assistant at Chicago State, and two seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations at Omaha. Additionally, Putz worked as an assistant at D2’s Wayne State and St. Cloud State.

An official announcement is expected shortly.
