I can confirm that Garden City (KS) head basketball coach Rusty Elmore has resigned and will become an assistant at New Mexico State. Elmore informed his team of the move in a team meeting yesterday.

Elmore had been at Garden City since 2022, putting together a 40-22 record during his tenure. He came to GCCC after a three year run at Colby CC where went 49-30. He has also worked as an assistant at Moberly Area CC and Lindsey Wilson College.

An official announcement on this move from New Mexico State is expected early this week.

Also, multiple sources have told me that Garden City associate head coach Isaiah Tisdale will “most likely” be tabbed as the program’s interim head coach for the upcoming season. More on this one as I hear it.
