Last night, I mentioned that Roxbury CC (MA) head coach Jelani Townsell had resigned to become the Athletic Director at the college (JUCO DIRT). I also mentioned that this would be the first of three jobs to open this off season in NJCAA Region XXI. Here’s the next one…

I have heard from great sources that UConn Avery Point head coach James Childs has retired. He been the head coach at UCAP for the past 15 seasons – his squad finished 10-18 this year.

I have also heard that current associate head coach Sam Cheung will be named as Childs’ replacement. This season was Cheung’s first at Avery Point. He had previously served as an assistant coach at Coast Guard, and worked as a HS coach in Connecticut.
