I can confirm that NJCAA D1 Midland College (TX) will hire Tra Arnold as their new head men’s basketball coach.

Arnold spent last season as an assistant on Billy Gillispie’s staff at Tarleton State. Prior to his time at Tarleton, Arnold worked as an assistant at Samford, and as the associate head coach at Iona.

The veteran coach is no stranger to the JUCO level, as he spent six seasons as the head coach at Odessa College (TX), where he went 159-32. Arnold also worked as the head coach at Blinn College (TX) for three seasons, from 2009-12.

An official announcement is expected later this week.
