I can confirm through multiple sources that current Ranger College assistant basketball coach James Stafford will be promoted to the role of head coach. He will replace Billy Gillispie who became the head coach at new D1 member Tarleton State (WAC) earlier this week.

Stafford was part of the Ranger staff that advanced to the NJCAA DI National Championship game back in 2019. He has also worked for Matt Doherty as an assistant at both SMU and Florida Atlantic, and also spent time at Toledo.

An official announcement is expected next week.
