I can confirm that NJCAA D1 Ranger College will hire Ashton Arnold as their new head men’s basketball coach.
Last season was Arnold’s first on the head coach Billy Gillispie’s staff at Tarleton (side note: Gillispie had served as the head coach at Ranger from 2015-20). Prior to his time at TSU, Arnold worked at the JUCO level at both Eastern Florida State College and Chipola.
Arnold is the son of long-time college coach and NBA scout Gib Arnold, and the Grandson of former John Wooden assistant (and former BYU head coach Frank Arnold).
Arnold will replace Zack VerHulst, who did not return after three seasons on the job.
An official announcement is expected shortly.
