JUCO DIRT: Triton College set to open; Head Coach will become D1 assistant

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I can confirm through multiple sources that NJCAA D1 Triton College (IL) head coach John Clancy will become an assistant coach at Western Illinois.

Clancy became the head coach at TC back in 2021, replacing Steve Christiansen who became an assistant at Northern Illinois. In his two seasons at the helm, Clancy has led the Trojans to a 52-13 mark (22-7 this past season). In his first season, his squad advanced to the NJCAA D1 Final Four, going 30-6.

Clancy has previously worked at the D1 level, spending four seasons on the staff at Southern Illinois. He also worked as an assistant at NJCAA powerhouse John A. Logan College.

At WIU, Clancy will work for former Highland CC head coach Chad Boudreau, who took over at Western this spring.

An official announcement is expected shortly.
