JUCO NEWS: Casey named Assistant Basketball Coach at Borough of Manhattan CC

JaQuan Casey begins his first season as an Assistant Coach with the BMCC men’s basketball program.
Casey joins the Panthers men’s basketball program with an impressive resume, coming to downtown Manhattan after serving as an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Dallas Christian College under Head Coach John Franklin.
During his time in 2022, he tutored Jairus Allen, an Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA) All-American 2nd Team honoree and All-Region selection who helped the Crusaders knock off nationally ranked No. 2 Manhattan Christian College in the first round of the Regional tournament. He also played a crucial role in running a high-powered Crusader offense that averaged 78.7 points per game, including a season-high 100 points in a victory over Union Christian.
Casey is a seasoned basketball professional serving as an NBA/WNBA/Division I player development intern in 2022, where he assisted in Pro workouts with former Kobe Bryant video scout Mike Procopio while he has also been a fixture on the AAU Circut as a Head Basketball Coach of the 16U Kansas City Spurs in 2021, Indiana Elite 17U Indy North in 2019, AAU Grand Park select 16U in 2018 while serving as an assistant coach of the Mokan Elite in 2022, and Men of Family 17U in 2017.
He has also served as an assistant coach at the high school level at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas, in 2022. During his time for the Huskies, he worked with the guards, cut film, and provided scouting reports for the team. He also was an assistant coach in the highly competitive basketball state of Indiana, working the sidelines with Perry Meridian High School in 2020 and Ben Davis High School in 2018.
He earned his associate’s degree in Sports Management and Kinesiology from Vincennes University in May 2020. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance from Fort Hays State University in 2022.
