Casey Wyllie has joined the Eastern Florida State College men’s basketball staff after most recently serving as the head men’s basketball coach at Olney Central College in Olney, Illinois.
Wyllie led Olney Central to a 27-24 overall record from 2020 to 2022.
Olney Central’s best season came during the 2020-21 season despite the circumstances with COVID-19, with a 14-7 overall record. Olney Central finished 2ndin Region 24 and 2nd in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. Olney Central finished ranked #24 in the final NJCAA Division I Poll and two players received All-Region and All-Conference recognition under Wyllie’s leadership.
Olney Central also had success in the classroom and was named the NJCAA Division I Region 24 Academic Team of the Year in 2020-21 and 2021-22. Wyllie also had eight student athletes that were named to the Academic All-America team.
Prior to taking over as head coach, Wyllie served as an assistant to long time head coach Mike Burris at Olney Central during the 2019-20 and helped the team reach a 24-7 overall record.
Prior to Olney Central, Wyllie served as the Director of Basketball Operations at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville from 2017 to 2019. While working at SIUE, Wyllie was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program. In addition, During his time at SIUE, Wyllie was part of back-to-back OVC Conference Tournament appearances, which was the first time the Cougars had made the tournament since the 2014-2015 season.
Prior to SIUE, Wyllie had a brief coaching stop at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana during June 2017. Before Vincennes, Wyllie served as a Graduate Assistant coach at Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana from 2015 to 2017.
He earned his master’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Administration of Sport and Physical Activity from Louisiana Tech in November, 2017. During his time at Louisiana Tech, the Bulldogs finished with a combined record of 46-20 while making back-to-back Conference USA Tournament appearances.
