JUCO NEWS: Livengood named Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Yavapai College

The Yavapai College Athletics Department is excited to announce the hiring of Jonathan Livengood to be the next assistant men’s basketball coach at Yavapai College. Livengood will serve on the staff with Head Coach Kevon Davis who enters his first season at the helm of the Roughriders in the winter of 2023.

“I am extremely excited to join Coach Davis here at YC,” said Livengood. “I’m just as excited to get to work with our student-athletes. Go Roughriders!”

Livengood comes to Yavapai College from Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas, where he served as the assistant men’s basketball coach for the Pirates during the 2022-23 season.

Before coaching the Pirates, Livengood was the assistant men’s basketball coach at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Missouri, from July of 2020 to July of 2022. While coaching the Cardinals, Livengood helped guide the squad to a 48-8 combined record during his two years in addition to an elite-eight finish at the NJCAA National Tournament.

While at Mineral Area, Livengood also coached three All-Americans (including Malevy Leons during the 2020-21 season in which he earned NJCAA Player of the Year honors) and eight All-Conference players.

Prior to his coaching career, Livengood graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri, in May of 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in finance. While at Missouri State, Livengood was the student manager for the men’s basketball program.
