The Illinois College men’s basketball team welcomes new assistant coach Jacobe Julien to the staff for the 2022-23 season.
Julien comes to Illinois College after being the Director of All Iowa Attack in Coralville, Iowa. There he coordinated practices for young athletes ages 3rd-11th grade, assisted in the scheduling of tournaments, and monitored the tournaments hosted by the program. Julien has had coaching experience at the college and high school levels at Mount Mercy University, Scottsdale Community College, Louisiana Tech University, and Solon High School.
Julien attended Mount Mercy University during his undergraduate studies where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management in 2018. There he was a member of the men’s basketball team. Julien went on to continue his education at Louisiana Tech University receiving his Graduate Certificate for Business Administration in 2021.
“We are really excited to add Coach Julien to our staff. Any time we add someone new to our program we are looking to find a person who loves the game of basketball, who is competitive, and who is a relentless worker. We found all of those qualities in Coach Julien,” Head Men’s Basketball Coach Steve Schweer said. “Jacobe is sharp with his ability to see and teach the game, and he has a unique ability to connect with people. In addition, Coach Julien brings a demonstrated ability to develop players at the highest level, and we are fortunate to add a coach with that caliber of experience in player development to our staff. He is a great fit in our program and we couldn’t be happier to welcome Jacobe to Illinois College and the Jacksonville community.”
The Blueboys will begin their season on the road against Webster University on Tuesday, 11/8 at 7:30 PM.
