Justin Welke tendered his resignation as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Harper College.
He indicated that he wanted to “pursue other career and coaching interests.” He was thankful for the opportunity to coach at Harper and for his time working with the students and staff in athletics.
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with the student-athletes and the entire athletics department staff,” Welke said. “I will always cherish my memories at Harper, and I wish the entire school and athletics department the very best in the future.”
In two years as head coach of the Hawks, Welke coached two N4C All-Conference selections (Davion Benton (Chicago, Ill. /Alcott College Prep), Marcus Gatlin (Chicago, Ill./Curie)), four Academic All-Americans, two NJCAA Division III Men’s Basketball National Players of the Week (Admir Suljic (Chicago, Ill. /Lane Tech), Marcus Gatlin (Chicago, Ill./Curie)), and 13 NJCAA Region IV Division III Men’s Basketball Players of the Week.
The position will be filled as soon as possible.
