Kelsey receives contract extension, $1M raise at Louisville

Pat Kelsey has received a contract extension through March of 2030, and a reported raise of $1 million dollars per season.

The Louisville athletics department released the news that Kelsey (and four other UL head coaches)had been extended, and WLKY published the updated salary figures.

Kelsey’s salary was $2.3 million last season, and was approved for $3.3 million going forward. Kelsey received a $50,000 bonus for making the NCAA Tournament, and $25,000 for being named ACC Coach of the Year.

Kelsey wrapped up his first season at Louisville with a 27-8 record, including an impressive 18-2 mark in ACC play — the best conference record the program has had since joining the ACC 11 years ago. The 27 wins are also the most since Louisville went 27-9 back in 2014-15 (though those were later vacated). After being named ACC Coach of the Year, Kelsey guided the Cards to their first-ever trip to both the ACC Tournament semifinal and championship game, finishing as runner-up in both the tourney and the regular season. Louisville earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, their first appearance since 2019.
