The University of Oregon has scheduled a press conference with men’s basketball coach Ernie Kent and athletic director Mike Bellotti for 3:30 p.m. (PDT). The press conference is expected to officially announce the end of Kent’s tenure at Oregon – something that we’ve been saying since 3/7 (http://www.hoopdirt.com/blog/aba531bc/coaching-changes-made-…).

The “hot” name right now to replace Ernie Kent at Oregon is P.J. Carlesimo. Carlesimo, who led Seton Hall to the 1989 NCAA championship game, also coached the Portland Trail Blazers and Oklahoma City Thunder. He is a veteran who knows how to win at the college level. Also, Oregon has a history of hiring older, proven coaches – 70 year-old Paul Westhead was hired last year as their women’s coach .
