Kent State University has released the following statement on the passing of Director of Basketball Operations Brian Barnes:

Kent State Athletics mourns the loss of men’s basketball Director of Basketball Operations, Brian Barnes. Brian will be dearly missed by all and our thoughts are with Brian’s family and friends during this very difficult time.

“My condolences go out to Brian’s family and all those who had the opportunity to interact with him,” said Coach Rob Senderoff.

“He was an integral part of our program over the last six years and played a vital role in the lives of so many of our players, both past and present. He will be incredibly missed” noted Senderoff.

Barnes had been at Kent State since 2015, where he started as a graduate assistant. He was then named as the Video Coordinator/Special Assistant to the Director of Basketball Operations, and elevated to DBO after that.
