Kett added to St. Thomas University Basketball Staff

Sean Kett has been named as an assistant coach for the 2019 – 20 Men’s Basketball season, announced St. Thomas University (FL) Head Coach and Assistant Athletic Director, D.P. Harris. Kett will join first year STU Head Coach Harris, Harrison Singer, Armand Shoon (’17) and Lorel Beckford(’15) as part of the coaching staff for the Bobcats.

Kett, a Miami native, graduated from Palmetto Senior High School in 2011.

Kett played all four years of his college career at St. Vincent College under the tutelage of Coach Harris and will join the St. Thomas staff for his first season. While playing under Harris at SVC, Kett scored 971 points, 668 rebounds and shot 80% from the free throw line. Kett was named to the All-PAC First-Team, as a senior, leading the Bearcats with 13.4 points-per-game. 

Kett obtained a Masters degree in Business Management and Operational Excellence from the McKenna School of Business at St. Vincent College. Kett brings championship experience to the Bobcats bench, playing on three championship teams as a player (2011-2015) and one as a Graduate Assistant coach. 

Following his playing days, Kett spent a year in the Pacific Northwest volunteering for the AmeriCorps and the American Red Cross, working with the community in preparation for natural diasters and served on the Diaster Response Team.

Head Coach D.P. Harris stated that “Sean was a natural choice with his academic pedigree. As a former player of mine and someone who understands the culture of Academics, Basketball and Culture, that we are building at St. Thomas University.” adding “like most of my players, he and I have a special relationship. I am positive that Sean will make a tremendous impact on our current players and will attract high academic prospects throughout the state of Florida.”

Kett is certified as a Strength and Conditioning trainer and will also be responsible for the training of the Men’s Basketball program.
