Kyle Guy added to Nevada Basketball Staff

Nevada Men’s Basketball is proud to announce the addition of Kyle Guy to its coaching staff, effective April 2025. A former NCAA Champion,

NBA guard, and international standout, Guy brings a wealth of experience at the game’s highest levels and a proven track record in player development, scouting, and leadership.
“I’m beyond excited for a fresh start working with another Hall of Fame coach. Let’s get to work, Wolfpack family! I appreciate Coach Alford and the staff for this incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to contribute and help take this program to new heights.”

Guy rose to national prominence during his collegiate career at the University of Virginia, where he played from 2016 to 2019. He led the Cavaliers to the 2019 NCAA Championship as a junior, delivering one of the tournament’s most iconic performances. In the Final Four against Auburn, Guy calmly sank three game-winning free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining to send UVA to the title game. He then scored 24 points in the national championship win over Texas Tech. His heroics earned him the title of NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player. A two-time First-Team All-ACC selection and consensus Third-Team All-American, Guy left UVA as one of the most decorated players in program history and remains the school’s all-time leader in three-point percentage.

Guy was selected by the New York Knicks with the 55th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and went on to play for the Sacramento Kings and Miami Heat. He later took his talents overseas, playing professionally in Spain and Greece for top-tier clubs such as Club Joventut Badalona, Panathinaikos B.C., and Lenovo Tenerife. During the 2024 season, he led the FIBA Champions League in scoring.

In August 2024, Guy transitioned into coaching, returning to his alma mater as an Athlete Development Mentor and Special Assistant for Virginia Men’s Basketball. In that role, he provided individualized training, contributed to scouting and video breakdowns, and helped develop a data-driven platform for evaluating high school and transfer portal talent.
“We’re thrilled to bring someone of Kyle’s caliber and championship experience to Nevada,” said Coach Steve Alford. “His ability to connect with players, his basketball IQ, and his experience at every level of the game will be invaluable to our program.”

Off the court, Kyle is a dedicated husband and father. He and his wife , Alexa, are parents to two sons, Chance and Jones. Guy’s addition reflects Nevada’s ongoing commitment to excellence and development on and off the court.
