Pace University Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach Kevin Clark ’14 has accepted the Head Men’s Basketball Coach position at Lackawanna College in Scranton, PA. Clark recently completed his second season as an assistant coach for the Pace men’s basketball program and earned his Master’s Degree from Pace in Education this spring.
Clark was the graduate assistant coach for the past two seasons for the Setters where he assisted with game day planning and operations, recruiting and helping with the Pace backcourt. A transfer from St. John’s University, Clark spent his first year of graduate school at Pace University as a player for the Setters. He played in 26 games and averaged a 32.6 three point percentage, 84.6 field goal percentage to average a total of 4.9 points per game. Clark completed his Master’s program this past May.
"Kevin is a very mature and gifted individual for his age," said Pace Head Coach Pat Kennedy. "He cares deeply for the student athletes he is directing. Kevin embraces the ideals of quality education and developing as a total person. He is an excellent teacher and will become an outstanding head coach. He will be missed at Pace."
Clark earned a walk-on position as part of the Red Storm his sophomore year and earned a scholarship his senior year at St. John’s University. The 6-1 guard played in 11 games totaling 18 minutes, four rebounds and four points on his career. Coach Lavin deemed Clark an intelligent, dedicated player. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from St. John’s in Communication Arts in May 2011.
Clark graduated from Dunmore High School in Dunmore, Pennsylvania. Clark averaged 17.0 points per game and 9.0 rebounds per game as a senior. He was named Lackawanna D-II Conference Player of the Year after leading Dunmore with 20.0 points per game and 9.0 rebounds as a junior. He earned a first team All-Region nod from the Scranton Times Tribune that season, and was named a first team all-star as a junior and senior. Clark was also a member of the Dunmore baseball team and was a three-time all-star for Coach Gino Tempesta.
