Lancaster Bible College Announce 2019-20 Men’s Basketball Staff

The Lancaster Bible College men’s basketball program has solidified its staff for the 2019-20 season, the first for Head Coach Jon Mack. Mack, who was hired in May, will be joined by Assistant Coaches Chris Cook and Chris Rich, as well as Graduate Assistant Coach Jalen Archer.

Mack will be entering his 20th season as a head coach, as he led The University of Valley Forge (NCCAA / NCAA Division III) in Phoenixville, Pa. from 2000-17, before coaching the past two seasons at Southwestern Christian University (NCCAA / NAIA Division I) in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Over the course of his coaching career Mack has won over 300 games, and coached 20 All-American student-athletes. He coached Southwestern Christian to the NCCAA Division I National Championship Game in 2018, and led Valley Forge to the NCCAA Division II Final on three different occasions. Mack was also named NCCAA Division II National Coach of the Year four times, taking home the award in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2017.

Mack has coached at several camps throughout this coaching career, including being the site director at Mount Laurel, N.J. for the 76ers Summer Basketball camp. He also volunteers each summer as the Head Basketball Clinician with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Kutztown University.

Cook, who will be the Lead Assistant Coach for the Chargers, comes to Lancaster from Hood College where he has been an assistant coach since the 2015-16 season. Cook earned his undergraduate degree from Hood in 2015, and then earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2017 from Hood as well.

During his time as an assistant coach, Cook has assisted in player development, game preparation, practice planning, and development of scouting reports. Cook has also worked at several camps, including Hoop Group Top 100 and Mount St. Mary’s Elite Camp.

Cook was a terrific player for the Blazers during his four years in Frederick, Md. He was named to the MAC Commonwealth All-Conference First Team for the 2014-15 season, and was also a D3hoops.com Mid-Atlantic Region First Team selection that season as well.

Rich, who has assisted both the previous two head coaches at Lancaster Bible, will not only assist with the team on the floor, but off the floor as well. Rich’s full-time position is with Fellowship of Christian Athletes where he serves as the Vice President of Field Ministry for the Mid-Atlantic Region. Rich is a graduate of Grove City College where he was a three-time letter winner in football.

Archer, who played point guard at The University of Valley Forge for his first three years of college before transferring to Lancaster Bible for the 2017-18 season, will serve as the team’s graduate assistant this season. Archer helped the Chargers to the 2018 NEAC Championship, averaging 7.1 points and 2.2 assists that season, as he started all 29 games.

Archer will help with all aspects of the team, including practice, game preparation recruiting and scouting.
