Lane promoted to Associate Head Coach at Goldey-Beacom

Former Goldey-Beacom men’s basketball standout and current assistant coach Jarrel Lane has been promoted to the program’s Associate Head Coach.

Lane competed in parts of three seasons for the Lightning from 2013-16 and played a key role at point guard.  His 207 career assists put him eighth in school history and he owns two of the top-10 single-season assists marks in team annals.

From there, he was tabbed an assistant coach and his three seasons have seen a boom in the program.  The Lightning in that time have played in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament every year and the last two seasons have advanced to the semifinals.  The 2017-18 squad (20-10, 15-4 CACC) won the CACC South Division, tied the school record for most wins and broke the team mark for most league victories.

Goldey-Beacom (15-15, 12-7) last season opened against three opponents (Bentley, Saint Anselm and Saint Thomas Aquinas) who all were nationally ranked at some point and then defeated regionally ranked Bridgeport, 104-87, in the fourth game of the campaign.

“I am very excited to announce the promotion of Jarrel Lane to Associate Head Coach,” Goldey-Beacom head coach TJ Dekmar said.  “He has been an integral part of this program, first as a player and now as a coach.  He has exceled in every role given to him and has been pivotal in the success we have had, especially his ability to recruit high character, talented basketball players; which has been shown on many occasions throughout his young coaching career.  I am thrilled to see Jarrel grow as a coach in his new role and help the program reach new heights.”

Goldey-Beacom opens its season November 9 at Bridgeport.
