Long day at the office followed by an even longer night on the Little League field! Here are a few things I’ve heard…

• Georgia Southern assistant Steve Smith is headed to Clemson where he will replace James Johnson (hired as HC at Virginia Tech). Smith, who is a South Carolina native, had spent the past three seasons at GSU. He was an assistant at USC Upstate (Spartanburg, SC) before that.

• I have heard that Mississippi Valley State assistant Brian Ellis will be joining Sean Woods Morehead State. This past season was his first at MVSU – he was an assistant at Delta State for six seasons before that. There is no word yet if MVSU assistant Chico Potts will be making the move to Morehead St. with Woods and Ellis.

• It sounds like Jacksonville JC (TX) assistant Phillipe Lilavois has accepted a similar position at McMurry University. Lilavois would be reunited with new McMurry head coach Chris Beard – Lilavois was a student assistant on Bob Knight’s staff at Texas Tech when Beard was an assistant (and later associate head coach) there.
