Lavin, Montgomery, Kennedy updates….

There are currently three DI head coaches out of action for various medical reasons. Here are the updates as they all continue to recover:

Steve Lavin – Head Coach St. John’s. Underwent prostate cancer surgery on October 6th. According to Lavin, the surgery was a success. St. John’s has an exhibition game tonight vs C.W. Post which Lavin is expected to miss. There is no timetable on his return, but it could be any day. Assistant coach Tony Chiles has been running the team in the interim.

Mike Montgomery – Head Coach Cal. Had an unspecified medical procedure last Wednesday. According to officials at Cal, Montgomery is expected to rejoin the team later this week and he will attend the PAC-12 media day in Los Angeles on Friday. Assistants Travis DeCuire and Jay John have been in charge during Montgomery’s absence.

Billy Kennedy – Head coach Texas A&M. Another undisclosed medical condition. Kennedy has been out since October 14th. There is currently no timetable on his return. Associate head coach Glynn Cyprien will continue to coach the team.
