Palm Beach Atlantic men’s basketball coach Cole Rose has announced the Grant Ledford will remain with the Sailfish as an assistant coach. Ledford begins his coaching career after playing for Rose and PBA in 2023-24.
“Grant Ledford is everything we’re about as a basketball program and as a University, so to be able to keep him on staff as our Graduate Assistant was a big time advantage for our team,” Rose said. “As an all-conference level player, he’s been able to set the example to our players of what it takes to be successful and that same work ethic will serve him well as he begins his coaching career.”
Ledford had a successful season on the court with the Sailfish. He led PBA in scoring and rebounding while helping PBA record back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in 20 years. His 217 rebounds this past season are the second most in a single season in PBA’s DII-era. The Tennessee native earned All-SSC second-team honors. Ledford came to PBA after four years at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. While at UTC, he played in 67 games, including helping the Mocs reach the NCAA Tournament in 2021-22.
“I am thrilled to return to Palm Beach Atlantic University as an assistant coach,” Ledford said. “As a former player, PBA has a special place in my heart, and I am honored to have the opportunity to give back to the program that did so much for me. I look forward to working with my former teammates and contributing to their development as people and players. I can’t wait to start this new chapter and continue my time here at PBA.”
PBA is coming off its most wins so far in the Cole Rose era. The program boasted the second-highest winning percentage in its DII-era in 2023-24 and earned its best Sunshine State Conference record since 2019-20. The program notched back-to-back winning seasons in the first time in 20 years.
Previous coaches Aj Clark and Ryan Montgomery stepped down this spring. Clark is joining the staff at Eastern Kentucky, while Montgomery was named assistant coach at Central Arkansas.
