Northeastern men’s basketball head coach Bill Coen announced Thursday that former Northeastern guard Jon Lee will join the staff as a graduate assistant for the 2022-23 season.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jon back to Huntington Avenue,” Coen said. “Jon was Mr. Northeastern during his collegiate career, and we’re confident that our current student-athletes will benefit from his expertise and leadership day in and day out. We’re looking forward to having him back in the gym with our team.”
The Michigan native joins the staff after a standout career with the Huskies from 2009-2013 and a professional career overseas. During his time with Northeastern, Lee averaged 14.2 points per game, 4.1 rebounds per game, and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 45% from the field.
He started all 55 games he played in for the Huskies from 2011-2013, averaging 35.3 minutes per game. Lee ranks fourth all-time in career three-point percentage (.404) and ninth in free throw percentage (79.8%).
Lee was named to the Senior CLASS Award Second Team during his senior season as a captain with current assistant coach Joel Smith, and was a two-time All-CAA honoree. After his college career, Lee had workouts in the NBA before ultimately taking his talents overseas to play professionally in various countries for the past nine years.
