Brandon Rosser has been named the new assistant men’s basketball coach at Lees-McRae College, announced head coach Steve Hardin Thursday.
"I am extremely proud to add Brandon Rosser to my staff," said Hardin. "Brandon is a very close friend; he played for me and also served as my assistant in my first head coaching job [at Bluefield College]. Coach Rosser is a valuable addition to our program," praised Hardin. "We share the same philosophy, values, and goals."
Rosser will assist in all facets of the men’s basketball program with an emphasis on recruiting, development of the Bobcats’ post players, implementation of a strength program, and opponent scouting.
"I’m extremely honored and thankful for the opportunity to work alongside Coach Hardin here at Lees-McRae," expressed Rosser. "Steve and I have known each other for a long time, I played for him and we also worked together while at Bluefield College. We look forward to building a strong program at LMC – something that alumni, faculty and staff, and the community will enjoy."
Rosser comes to Lees-McRae after two seasons at Louisburg College in Louisburg, N.C., where he helped lead the Hurricanes to an overall record 65-8, two Region 10 championships, and two berths in the NJCAA National Championship tournament. Louisburg finished each season ranked among the top 10 in the nation. During his tenure at Louisburg, Rosser mentored two NJCAA All-Americans, and helped 14 players earn basketball scholarships at four-year institutions.
"In our efforts to develop our men’s basketball program, we felt Brandon was the person with the recruiting connections, player development and abilities we need to put Lees-McRae men’s basketball in the right direction," said Director of Athletics Craig McPhail. "I am convinced our recruiting efforts will be at such high levels, and the demand to be a part of the Bobcat basketball program will continue to progress where our improvement will be extremely visible by all. I am looking forward to watching him in action and seeing the product of his hard work on the floor this coming winter."
Prior to his stint at Louisburg College, Rosser was an assistant at North Greenville University from 2008-2011. While at North Greenville he completed his Masters in Business Administration. Before joining the staff at North Greenville, Rosser spent two years at his alma mater Bluefield College.
While at Bluefield, Rosser fulfilled numerous roles. He was an assistant for Coach Hardin with the men’s and women’s basketball programs, head JV basketball coach and head golf coach. Bluefield’s men’s team amassed 47 wins over a two year span, and produced eight all-conference players and two All-Americans.
"Brandon has grown as a coach in all of his previous coaching stints," said Hardin. "He is a tireless working that has already hit the ground running with recruiting. I am excited to have Coach Rosser and the future looks bright for the Lees McRae men’s basketball program."
Rosser is a native of Forest, Va., where he played at Jefferson Forest High School. He graduated from Bluefield College with a degree in Exercise Science/Sports Management in 2006.
